The Secrets of the Self
Philosophical poetry rooted as much in metaphysical thought as it is in Islamic theology, The Secrets of the Self is a book-length piece. According to the poet, the “Self” is the soul and inner power of each person, and how the universe has shaped them. Using Love and willpower, one can improve the Self, subsequently controlling the forces of the universe. Islamic ideals are promoted through stories that illustrate the poem’s points.
